Gardner’s Mattress & More @ the 2012 Lancaster Newspaper’s Food & Spirits Festival

On Sunday July 22, Gardner’s Mattress & More was a sponsor for the Lancaster Newspaper’s Food & Spirits Festival at the Lancaster Convention Center. There were over 1,500 people in attendance and we had a great time. Awesome food and drinks were abundant, but not for the Gardner’s guys. Our booth was busy! We displayed one of our Carpe Diem Beds of Sweden, a Tempur-Pedic Cloud Supreme Ergo Adjustable, and 2 of our Human Touch Massage chairs. In fact, we were right next to the cooking demonstration stage so the chairs served as the “best seat in the house” to watch the cooking displays by celebrity chefs Fabio Viviani (more on Fabio later) and Jon Ashton. The Human Touch chairs are incredibly comfortable and offer a relaxing “wave therapy” massage and soothing jade stone heat. They were a hit.

Also a popular “resting” site for festival attendees was our Harmano Carpe Diem mattress. Hand made in Sweden, the Harmano bed is one of the most comfortable, supportive, and pressure relieving mattresses in the world. I should know…I slept on one in Sweden when I visited the Carpe Diem factory last month. Check out my Sweden visit blog post here. A Carpe Diem bed is the ultimate in Swedish sleep luxury and design, using the finest materials available. They are the most popular bed in Scanidavia, demanded by hotels and travelers alike. Gardner’s is proud to be one of 13 stores in the country with the Carpe Diem brand and the only serving the Mid-Atlantic.

Last but not least is the Tempur-Pedic Cloud Supreme Ergo Adjustable we had there. First of all, we had a wine glass on the bed, just like Tempur-Pedic uses in their commercial. Our was filled with Skittles, for obvious reasons. The idea of the wine glass is to demonstrate how the Tempur-Pedic mattress does not distribute motion between sleepers. We had a lot of people wanting to test this out, to see if they could get the wine glass to fall. Then came Fabio. Fabio Viviani is a fan favorite from the hit Bravo cooking show, Top Chef (when I had cable, I was a big fan of the show). When Fabio stopped by the Gardner’s booth, this is what happened:

Just like on the commercial! Ok, he did manage to knock the wine glass over, but he was jumping for a good ten seconds before it fell. I think he was pretty impressed. We talked for a bit…he’s a real cool dude. He had a big crowd for his cooking demonstration too.

One last thing. During the show, we had everyone who stopped by our booth fill out an entry form to win an amazing wine and spirits gift basket. We even offered additional chances to win with a donation to the National MS Society. We raised over $100 during the 4 hour festival! At the end of the day, the winner was announced…Danielle Cook! Unfortunately (and anticlimactically), she was not present. Oh well, she picked up the gift basket at the store the next day and she was thrilled.

That’s it! We had a great time. Hope to see you there next year!

To your better health through better sleep,

Ben
