MILLBROOK BEDS - THE RECIPE FOR PERFECT SLEEP

We sew together luxuriously soft, natural fillings and position thousands of individually hand nested pocket springs within a mattress, which provides a support for the individual curves of your neck and spine, so that beneath the softness there’s strength just where you need it. Each and every mattress in the collection features traditional hand side stitching; a skilled and time consuming process that’s worth every minute of extra time it takes. Not only does traditional hand side stitching lend refinement and a quality finish to your luxury mattress, it also extends the lifespan and the sleeping surface of the mattress.

LOOK FOR THE BLACK TUFT

All mattresses containing Hampshire wool from the black-faced sheep feature a single black tuft in the bottom right hand corner. This mark of quality tells the story that this mattress has been made using only Hampshire wool.

HANDMADE SINCE 1946

Whether we are building a luxury yacht interior, upholstering benches at the Houses of Parliament or building the front door for the Prime Minister at No.10 Downing Street, our goal is to always achieve the best quality with exact attention to detail. To our entire team, the excellence and high reputation of Millbrook is a matter of quiet personal pride and it is perhaps this that results in the supreme quality and finish of each piece of Millbrook furniture.

BRITISH WOOL

British wool is unique as it has natural crimp along its staple length. This crimp acts like nature’s own spring and this bounce, springiness and resilience is much sought after by manufacturers around the world. It also has improved thermal properties which means mattresses made using British wool is naturally more comfortable to sleep on.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL

Our handmade mattresses and beds are designed in-house and use the finest materials and craftsmanship techniques for uninterrupted, Perfect Sleep. The details are so important that, even in an age of advanced automation, we still take care of them by hand.

NATURAL FABRICS AND FILLINGS

Every Millbrook Bed uses the finest chemical free visco-cotton and Egyption Cotton covers, combined with suptuous natural Hampshire wool, English Fine Cotton, cashgora, bamboo, pashmina and silk, which are all renowned for their softness and breathability.

HAND SIDE STITCHING

Every mattress made by Millbrook Beds features traditional hand side stitching to secure the outer springs to the border preventing ‘roll-off’. This is one of the most highly skilled and labour intensive of all our operations. The difference this makes to the mattress is dramatic - preventing the springs from distortion and extending the sleeping area right to the edge of the bed.

CHEMICAL-FREE

Our complete range is chemical-free, offering 100% natural sleeping surfaces – no chemicals are used in the cotton covers or in any of the natural fillings of our mattresses.

THE PERFECT FLEECE

Sheep from the Hampshire Downs can be recognised by their blackfaced and their wool is special. The milder climate means the sheep living here produce a fleece that tends to be fuller and bulkier. 100% fleece wool grown in the county of Hampshire has been specially selected to make Millbrook mattresses. We have taken full advantage of the special characteristics of this wool and are very proud to be using locally sourced materials.

ENGLISH FINE COTTON

All the cotton we use is grown sustainably in the USA and spun in the only surviving commercial cotton mill in the UK. Tower Mill, near Manchester, was first used for cotton spinning in 1886 when it was home to a thriving industry. Today, the Victorian cotton mill has been refurbished to create a state-of-the-art cotton spinning facility – marking the rebirth of the UK cottonspinning industry.

ENGLISH STEEL SPRINGS

Our springs are made from British steel by Leggett & Platt, a worldwide leader in innerspring technology. Single or double layer pocket springs provide the comfort sleeper’s desire combined with the support needed to reduce partner disturbance and roll together.
